Devon Matlock is an artist, designer, and illustrator based in the Bay Area. She studied at the Rhode Island School of Design and California College of the Arts, specializing in Illustration as well as Jewelry Design and Fabrication. Originally from the Rust Belt, Devon finds inspiration and beauty in material processes of deterioration and renewal, and in visual markers of passing time. Her work explores the ways in which we invest power, memory, and personal mythologies into objects. She strives to simultaneously capture both a sense of possession and longing in her work, and to highlight the sublime beauty of our struggle to hold on to the ephemeral.
Beyond her passion for drawing and visual communication, Devon has years of specialized training in the jewelry industry as a bench jeweler and designer working closely with clients to create custom heirlooms.
