Devon Matlock is a Bay Area artist primarily working in jewelry and metals. She split her BFA studies between the Rhode Island School of Design and California College of the Arts. Originally from the Rust Belt, Devon finds inspiration and beauty in the deterioration of materials and in visual markers of passing time. Her work explores the ways in which we invest power, memory, and personal mythologies into objects. She strives to simultaneously capture both a sense of possession and longing in her work, and to highlight the sublime beauty of our struggle to hold on to the ephemeral.
